Students paid homage to Marx's tomb

Students visited Engels' former residence in his later years
Recently, young students from "Qian Qihu Class" of The School of Mechanics & Civil Engineering went to London to conduct overseas practical study activity, visiting Marx's tomb and Engels' former residence, and tracing the spiritual footprints of great thinkers.
On the morning of August 8th, Highgate Cemetery in London was solemn and peaceful. Students held a memorial ceremony in front of Karl Marx's tomb, and Wang Senhao presented flowers and recited a memorial letter on behalf of the class. The letter traces Marx's lifelong pursuit of truth and human liberation, and sincerely expresses the firm belief of the youth in the new era in the power of Marxist truth. The sound of the letter settled, and all students bowed their heads in silence, paying deep respect to this giant who changed the course of human thought.
On August 9th, the class arrived at Engels' former residence at 122 Regent's Park Road in London. This Victorian style red brick building was once a "beacon of thought" for the international workers' movement. Under the ivy covered porch, the students gazed at the blue commemorative plaque adorned with Engels' portrait, reminiscing about his tumultuous 23 years here. The feather pens and yellowed manuscripts displayed in the study of the former residence witnessed the birth of a series of classics.
This overseas practical study activity is an important measure for the "Qian Qihu Class" as a platform for cultivating top-notch innovative talents in undergraduate programs. The School of Mechanics & Civil Engineering has carefully designed a rich and diverse range of research content, including classroom lectures, group discussions, prestigious school experiences, and outdoor explorations, to explore new international models for cultivating top-notch innovative talents. The participating students expressed that this study tour is not only a geographical exploration, but also a source of spiritual belief. The ideological power of Marxism will guide us to integrate personal struggle into the magnificent journey of national rejuvenation, and let our youth shine brightly in the unremitting struggle for our country, the people, and humanity!
