
Symposium online
From March 1 to 3, 2023, the "China-Russia Academic Exchange" symposium was held online. This symposium was hosted by the School of Mechanics and Civil Engineering of China University of Mining and Technology, and co-hosted by the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Liaoning University, Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Liaoning Technical University, and other institutions. The Chinese side was organized by Professor Ma Zhanguo, Secretary of the School's Party Committee, while the Russian side was led by Academician Виктор Опарин (Victor Oparin) of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. A total of 11 renowned Chinese and Russian experts and scholars delivered keynote presentations, with over 50 scholars participating in the academic discussions.
Professor Li Shuchen, Dean of the School, extended a warm congratulations on the convening of the symposium and introduced the School's developments in disciplines, platforms, scientific research, and talent cultivation. On the Russian side, Academician Виктор Опарин (Victor Oparin) from the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Director Алексей Хмелинин (Alexey Khmelinin), Professor Киряева Татьяна (Tatyana Kiryaeva), Professor Антон Конурин (Anton Konurin), and Professor Анвар Чанышев (Anvar Chanyshev) delivered presentations. On the Chinese side, Professor Pan Yishan, Secretary of the Party Committee of Liaoning University; Professor Qi Chengzhi, Dean of the Graduate School of Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture; Professor Li Xiaozhao, Director of the State Key Laboratory of Deep Geomechanics and Underground Engineering; Professor Ma Zhanguo from the School of Mechanics and Civil Engineering; Professor Wang Jianguo; and Associate Professor Meng Bo presented insightful academic reports and shared their research in respective fields, followed by mutual discussions and exchanges.
During the symposium, both the Chinese and Russian sides agreed to further promote offline exchanges and cooperation under the organization of the International Office of China University of Mining and Technology. Preliminary cooperative agreements were reached in areas such as platform co-construction, talent cultivation, scientific research, and team building. This interdisciplinary, inter-institutional, and international academic exchange facilitated the integration of disciplines, strengthened international cooperation, and enhanced academic influence.
