BIO
Dr Oh is an Associate Professor in Civil Engineering, specialising in geotechnical and pavement engineering. His research interests cover geotechnical issues for infrastructure, ground improvement techniques, problematic soil behaviours and pavement engineering. He has active research collaborations with industry and international partners and is recognised as an international expert in Civil Geotechnical Engineering, Ground Improvement, Structural Health Monitoring and Pavement Engineering. To date, he has supervised 18 PhD and 2 MPhil students to completion as a Principal Supervisor in Civil Geotechnical Engineering related research areas. Dr Oh has applied innovative instrumentation techniques to measure deformations in road embankments and piled foundations, researched the characterisation of unbound pavement materials for pavement design, and investigated the performance of unsealed roads under traffic loading. His research has extended to Pavement Management System, Airport Pavement, housing development and management, infrastructure health monitoring using digital, geospatial and sensor technologies, infrastructure design improvement through combining interactive BIM and statistical Bayesian methods, airport pavement analysis, optimisation via artificial intelligence, and foundation application for solar farms. His key research impacts lie in the specialised fields of soil-structure Interaction (involving road embankments, retaining structures, footings, deep foundations and problematic soils) and sustainable ground improvement materials and technologies, which include laboratory and field observations using sensors and instruments.
