BIO
Prof. Bofu Yu is Professor in Hydrology in the School of Engineering and Built Environment, and currently Head, the Civil and Environmental Engineering Discipline. Prof. Yu has extensive research and consultancy experience in hydrologic and soil erosion modelling in Australia and internationally. Prof. Yu has been working on climatic and hydrologic drivers for soil erosion modelling and prediction. His work on rainfall erosivity for the USLE/RUSLE has enabled large scale prediction and assessment of land degradation over the entire Australia continent, and this work has been widely used around the world. Prof Yu has developed and validated a spatially varying infiltration model that can be used to predict runoff rate for erosion prediction. Prof Yu has contributed to development of storm generation algorithms used in CLIGEN as a stochastic weather generator. Prof. Yu has also extended and unified the theoretical framework underpinning GUEST and WEPP models and developed efficient algorithms for sediment transport, sorting and deposition over a complex terrain. Prof. Yu has led a numerous contract research projects funded through NRM in Queensland, Office of Environment and Heritage (NSW), Victoria DPI, and Landloch, on various aspects of hydrologic and soil erosion modelling in Australia and around the world. In addition, he has been an academic manager to lead the review and development of engineering degree programs in the School of Engineering at Griffith Unviersity,
