The School of Mechanics and Civil Engineering at China University of Mining and Technology comprises of the Center for Experimentation of Mechanics and Civil Engineering, Department of Structural Engineering, Department of Mechanics and Engineering Science, Department of Highway and Underground Engineering, Department of Architectural Environment and Energy Application Engineering, Institute of Geotechnical Engineering, Institute of Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering, Institute of Rock Mechanics and Engineering, and Institute of Engineering Management. The school currently offers four undergraduate programs: Civil Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Architectural Environment and Energy Application Engineering, and Engineering Management. It also offers master's and doctoral degree programs and postdoctoral positions in two first-level disciplines: Civil Engineering and Mechanics, as well as master's and doctoral degree programs in Engineering Management as a second-level discipline. Additionally, it provides three professional master's degree programs: Architecture and Civil Engineering, Engineering Management, and Project Management. The school adheres to the talent cultivation concept of "teaching engineering knowledge, nurturing construction talents, and meeting the needs of society," and has cultivated numerous academic masters, outstanding professionals, and industry leaders. Since the beginning of the 21st century, the three disciplines of Civil Engineering, Engineering Management, and Architectural Environment and Energy Application Engineering have successively passed the evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and have obtained certification from the ministry. The four disciplines of Civil Engineering, Engineering Management, Engineering Mechanics, and Architectural Environment and Energy Application Engineering have successively been recognized as national first-class disciplines. The Civil Engineering discipline has been approved as a brand discipline for cultivating international talents in Jiangsu Province, and the Mechanics discipline has been approved as a 2.0 base for cultivating top talents in basic disciplines in Jiangsu Province. The school possesses a National-level Engineering Practice Education Center for Civil Engineering, Jiangsu Province Mechanics Experiment Demonstration Center, Jiangsu Province Civil Engineering Innovative Practice Education Center, and Jiangsu Province Applied Mechanics Center. The school currently has over 270 faculty members (including those from the State Key Laboratory for Geomechanics and Deep Underground Engineering)，among whom nearly 200 are full-time teaching staffs. It has nearly 4,000 students, including over 2,600 undergraduate students and over 1,300 doctoral and master's students.

The school has developed a discipline and specialty system with underground civil engineering and mechanics as its distinctive features, and coordinated development of above-ground civil engineering, engineering management, and architectural environment. The school possesses two national key disciplines: Geotechnical Engineering and Engineering Mechanics. It has disciplines designated for "Changjiang Scholar Incentive Program" and is recognized as a provincial key discipline in Mechanics and a provincial priority discipline in Civil Engineering. The school houses the National Key Laboratory for Intelligent Construction and Healthy Operation of Deep Underground Engineering, the National Engineering Research Center for Deep Mine Shaft Construction Technology, 8 provincial-level scientific research platforms, and 2 provincial-level collaborative innovation centers.
