On the morning of April 13th, the fourth meeting of the fourth council of our school's alumni Association was held in Hefei. President and President of the Alumni Association Zhao Hongwei, Vice President and Executive Vice President of the Alumni Association Li Qiang, and Vice President Wang Zhongbin attended the meeting. More than 300 people, including members of the fourth council and alumni representatives from various regions, participated in the event. The meeting was presided over by Zhong Xiaodong, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Development and Secretary-General of the Alumni Association. Five people, including Ma Zhanguo, the Party Secretary of the college, Ji Cheng, the Deputy Secretary, Wang Yingchao, the Vice President, Gu Zhenghu, the Vice President, and Teacher Zhang Tao, attended this alumni association together.

Zhao Hongwei was elected as the new president of the fourth council of the Alumni Association and delivered an important speech. He indicated that remarkable achievements had been made in the development of the school's undertakings over the past year. At present, in the face of a new situation where opportunities and challenges coexist, to seize major opportunities and achieve high-quality development, the school will focus on promoting alumni work from four aspects: strengthening top-level design, carrying forward cultural genes, clarifying working concepts, and improving service quality. He hopes that alumni and their Alma mater can move from an emotional community to a development community, form a value community and build a community with a shared future. He demanded that all alumni organizations strengthen their construction, unite and serve the vast number of alumni well, and better contribute the wisdom and strength of the university of Mining and Technology people to the growth and progress of alumni, the construction and development of the Alma mater, and the comprehensive advancement of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through Chinese-style modernization.

Li Qiang, entrusted by the fourth council of the Alumni Association, gave a report on the progress of the association's work and his thoughts and suggestions for future work. Wang Zhongbin presented MEDALS and certificates to both on-campus and off-campus personnel who were awarded the title of "Outstanding Individual in Alumni Work of 2024". Nearly 10 outstanding alumni from our college have been selected, including Du Hongshun from the class of 1987 in Civil Engineering and Architecture, Zhang Huaqiang from the class of 1999 in Civil Engineering, Ren Wei from the class of 1999 in Architecture and Environment, and Huang Zhipeng from the class of 2008 in Civil Engineering.

During the conference, the college organized an alumni symposium and exchange meeting, inviting over 20 people including the presidents, secretarisecretary-general and outstanding alumni from alumni organizations in Anhui, Hainan, Guangxi, Shanxi, Wuhan, Chongqing, Suzhou and other places to participate in the symposium. The symposium was presided over by Ji Cheng.

At the exchange meeting, Ma Zhanguo, on behalf of the college, extended a warm welcome to the alumni for their participation and discussion. He highly affirmed the positive contributions and outstanding achievements made by the alumni to the development of the industry, and expressed sincere gratitude for their long-term concern for the development of the college. He stated that every step of the college's development has been the result of the hard work and sweat of the alumni and teachers and students. The College of Geotechnical Engineering is full of enthusiasm. Alumni are always welcome to return to the college for exchanges and guidance. The college will always be a warm home for everyone. He also briefly introduced the development and achievements of the college during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period in terms of Party building leadership, discipline construction, talent cultivation, platform construction, faculty team building, scientific research, international exchanges, and social services. Facing the upcoming "15th Five-Year Plan", he hopes that all alumni will speak freely based on their own situations and offer suggestions for the better development of the college in the future.

The alumni attending the meeting exchanged views and made speeches based on their own development experiences, the current status of the industry, and the new demands of society for talents at present. In terms of talent cultivation, alumni suggest focusing on enhancing comprehensive qualities, keeping pace with The Times, accurately grasping social demands, and promoting talent cultivation towards internationalization and high-level development. In terms of cooperation and exchange, it is suggested that the college make extensive use of alumni organizations in various regions for publicity, join hands for cooperation, form a synergy, and deeply participate in major regional engineering construction, scientific and technological project breakthroughs, etc., to facilitate the implementation of the college's high-level scientific research achievements. It is suggested that the college take the lead in building a platform for information sharing and resource mutual assistance to promote in-depth exchanges and cooperation between the college and alumni as well as among alumni themselves.

After the meeting, the college visited enterprises such as iFLYTEK Co., LTD., Anhui Rongzhi Rixin Technology Co., LTD., Anhui Intel Industrial Engineering Technology Co., LTD., and Anhui Huizhou Geological Safety Research Institute Co., Ltd. to carry out job expansion activities.

In recent years, the college leaders have attached great importance to alumni work. They have actively strengthened cooperation between the college and alumni through various means such as talent cultivation, industry-university-research cooperation, and visiting enterprises to expand job opportunities. They have also actively contacted and served alumni, enhanced the feelings between alumni and the college as well as among alumni themselves, continuously elevated the level of cooperation, and promoted win-win cooperation between the college and alumni as well as among alumni themselves.
