The May Day holiday of 2025 is approaching. To ensure the safety of students during the holiday, enhance their awareness of safety precautions, and improve their emergency response capabilities, in accordance with the spirit of superior documents and the school's safety work arrangements, the School of Mechanics and Civil Engineering has taken multiple measures to effectively strengthen the safety education and management of students.

On the morning of April 24th, Ji Cheng, the deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the college, presided over a student work meeting. The meeting focused on emphasizing and arranging the safety education and management of college students before, during and after the May Day holiday. It was required that safety education and publicity be carried out for all students through a combination of online and offline methods. We should intensify and refine education and reminders in areas such as personal safety, travel safety, traffic safety, dormitory safety, home safety, cyber security, fire safety, and food safety, and build a comprehensive and three-dimensional student safety network integrating safety education, prevention, inspection, protection, and control. At the meeting, each grade sorted out and reported on the situation of caring for students and the key work in the near future, and discussed the undergraduate enrollment promotion activities, enterprise visits and job expansion to promote employment and other work.

On the evenings of April 16th and April 27th, the college took advantage of two units of time to hold a university career planning and student safety education conference for all freshmen, taking the opportunity of the 2024 undergraduate major diversion and direction assignment, as well as the launch of the major transfer work. At the meeting, there were Professor Zhang Yingying, the vice dean in charge of teaching at the college, Professor Wang Wenshun from the Institute of Engineering Management, Professor Jiang Jian from the Department of Architectural Engineering, Professor Cui Zhendong from the Institute of Geotechnical Engineering, Professor Chen Peijian from the Department of Mechanics and Engineering Science, Associate Professor Liu Shukui from the Department of Road, Bridge and Underground Engineering, Associate Professor Zhang Donghai from the Department of Building Environment and Energy Application Engineering, and Associate Professor Tian Wenling from the Institute of Rock Mechanics and Engineering, among others, as students They answer questions and solve doubts. Full-time counselors Xie Han, Xu Haichao and others took advantage of the meeting time to give safety education reminders to college students.

From April 25th to April 30th, Ji Cheng led a team and required representatives of full-time and part-time counselors, student Party members and cadres, and student cadres from the Youth League and student organizations of the college to enter the student apartment buildings to carry out dormitory hygiene supervision, safety hazard investigation, and safety education and reminder work, achieving full coverage of safety and hygiene inspections of student dormitories before the May Day holiday. Full-time and part-time counselors visit students' classrooms for inspection and observation to understand their learning situations in class. Each grade and class has strengthened student safety education through grade meetings, theme class meetings and other forms, and fully utilized online methods such as QQ groups and wechat groups to release safety education reminders for college students, educating and guiding students to earnestly enhance safety management with a spirit of high attention, high vigilance and high responsibility.

On the evening of April 30th, the student affairs team of the college once again organized an online Tencent meeting, specifically emphasizing the safety education and management of students during the May Day holiday. It particularly required all grades of undergraduate and postgraduate students to continuously strengthen safety publicity, education and management for all students during the holiday. Strictly implement the leave application and cancellation system, the evening roll call system, the duty and on-call system, the inspection and patrol system, the safety ledger system, the reporting and request system, etc., and effectively strengthen safety responsibilities. On the evening of April 27th, the college also organized and held a meeting to arrange the anti-fraud publicity and education work for college students in the spring semester of 2025. The meeting specifically mobilized and deployed a series of anti-fraud publicity and education activities for all students in the college, effectively strengthening the anti-fraud ideological defense line of students.

The School of Mechanics and Civil Engineering attaches great importance to the safety education and management of college students.
