To deepen the reform of the discipline and major system in higher education, in accordance with the requirements of the "Implementation Plan for the Adjustment and Optimization Reform of Discipline and Major Settings of China University of Mining and Technology", the college held a seminar on the optimization and adjustment of undergraduate majors in the A220 conference room on April 28th. The meeting was attended by Ma Zhanguo, the Party Secretary of the college, Li Shuchen, the President, Zhang Yingying and Wang Yingchao, the Vice Presidents, the directors of each department and institute, and the staff of the Teaching Management Office. The meeting was presided over by President Li Shuchen.

Ma Zhanguo pointed out that in the face of the changing situation in the civil engineering industry, the college must reach a consensus, take the initiative to seek changes, take improving the quality of undergraduate talent cultivation as the core, enhance the attractiveness of the major, and provide high-quality talents for the industry. Li Shuchen emphasized that it is necessary to leverage the unique advantages of the energy characteristics of the civil engineering major in the college, and to focus on "consolidating the foundation and expanding innovation". It is not only necessary to carry forward the accumulation of traditional disciplines but also to align with the intelligent and green development demands of the industry, and to respond to challenges through reform. Zhang Yingying interpreted the work requirements of the school's "Notice on Doing a Good Job in the Application Work for New and Adjusted Undergraduate Programs in 2025", and combined with the investigation of students' intentions to change majors, analyzed the necessity and urgency of the current optimization and adjustment of the college's programs. The participants engaged in a lively discussion on the optimization and adjustment of specialties, the upgrading of the curriculum system, and the path of industry-education integration, and put forward a number of constructive suggestions.

The college will implement the outcomes of the meeting item by item, integrate advantageous resources to promote the connotation construction of specialties, achieve a dual improvement in talent cultivation and discipline development, and contribute to serving the national strategy and industrial upgrading.
